Born to Dance in Havana
Milaila Capote comes straight from Cuba. She trained at the island's finest and most prestigious arts institutions:
- Graduate of the Vocational School of Dance Art (E.V.A.)
- Bachiller de Arte y Letras from the National School of Dance Art (E.N.A. — Escuela de Danza Moderna y Folklore Cubano)
- Degree from the University of the Arts with a specialization in Folklore (I.S.A.)
“One of the best dancers in Havana”— Baila Habana
Dancer with the Orishaoco Folkloric Company, the Banrarrá Company and the Havana Queens Dance Company. First place at the Festival del Tambor in Havana, Cuba, in the Rumba competition: first place in Guaguancó, first place in women's Columbia, and a special mention in the Yambú style without even being entered in it. She has appeared in music videos alongside Cuba's top artists. Her teaching style is passionate and motivating — but exact and strict. Students leave her workshops not just inspired, but technically sharper.
Out of that training and knowledge, Milaila created a space called MilailaMovimentoèVita, where she offers learning paths and real-life experiences built on the rhythms that carry Cuban culture and its roots — a way of telling stories, pain, joy and resistance through movement, from the sacred dances of the Orishas to the joyful pulse of the street, including artistic training and Cuban Dance Technique classes. Each student chooses, works and goes deeper according to their own taste and needs.

Dance Styles
Salsa
The heartbeat of Cuban social dance. Milaila teaches Casino-style Salsa rooted in Havana's street tradition — focusing on musicality, partner connection, and the joy of dancing together.
Son
The foundation of Cuban music and dance. Son is where Salsa was born. Milaila teaches its elegant, grounded movement and the deep connection between rhythm and body.
Timba
The modern, explosive evolution of Cuban salsa: faster, more syncopated, freer in the body. Milaila teaches its phrasing, its accents and the energy that makes it unmistakable.
Rumba
Raw, expressive, powerful. Rumba is the soul of Afro-Cuban culture. Milaila teaches its three main forms — Yambu, Guaguanco, and Columbia — with the energy and precision they demand.
Rueda de Casino
The group dance that turns any floor into a party. Multiple couples dance Salsa in a circle, following called moves in real time. Milaila brings the authentic Havana Rueda — fast, fun, and full of surprises.
Afro Yoruba
The sacred dances of the Orishas. Afro movement and Yoruba technique: every Orisha has its own rhythm, its own gesture, its own story. Milaila teaches them with the respect and precision they demand.
Ciclo Congo
Palo Monte, Makuta, Yuka. Cuba's Congo-rooted dances — deep, grounded, driven by the drum.
Franco-Haitian
Gagá and Vodú: Cuba's Franco-Haitian heritage, carried into the east of the island by Haitian migration.
Cuban Dance Technique
An academic style fusing classical methodology with Afro-Cuban rhythms and currents of modern dance from around the world. Marked by great fluidity, the expressive use of the hips, undulations of the torso, and a deep connection between energy and emotion. Milaila takes you to another level.
